Volleyball Welcomes Panthers to Redbird Arena

NORMAL, Ill. - Entering the final two weeks of the regular season, the Illinois State volleyball team (16-10, 9-5) will host the Northern Iowa Panthers (19-7, 11-3) Thursday in Redbird Arena in the second-to-last home match for the ISU volleyball program this season. On the year, Northern Iowa is the only team in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) that Illinois State has not defeated.
The Redbirds, currently in fifth place in the MVC, are led by Ashley Rosch with 301 kills, averaging 3.10 kills per set. Stacey Niao ranks second in both kills (241) and digs (279) while Emily Orrick has a team-high 458 digs. Emily Schneider leads the team with 113 total blocks, tallying 18 solo blocks and 95 block assists. Setter Kaitlyn Early is on the verge of eclipsing the millennium mark for the second consecutive season, currently owning 982 assists alongside 235 digs.
Northern Iowa is coming off a straight-set sweep of Evansville, and has won six of its last seven matches. The Panthers, currently in second place in the conference, are led by Macy Ubben in kills (293), Kinsey Caldwell in assists (1080) and Amie Held in digs (428). Courtney Kintzel has a team-high 117 total blocks, while four Panthers have at least 54 total blocks. UNI defeated ISU Oct. 18, in four sets to end the Redbird's perfect 7-0 record in conference play. Since then, the Redbirds have gone 2-6 in their last eight matches.
