NORMAL, Ill. - The time has finally come. Illinois State will officially begin its Missouri Valley Conference season Friday, March 31 at 3:00 p.m. on its McCormick Courts against in state rival Bradley.

During the past couple of months, the Redbirds have been playing top competitors such as No. 68 Western Michigan and No. 70 Illinois, to prepare for their conference opponents. However, in their preparation, the team and head coach Chris Hoover put winning aside and focus on other aspects as they face the Braves.

"Bradley has improved since the last time we have played them, and I think right now we need to forget about only winning and concentrate on making good tennis, and bettering ourselves," said Hoover.

This is also Bradley's first conference match this season which will make for good competition between the two hungry teams. The Redbirds (4-4) are coming off Wednesday's 5-2 win over Saint Louis which makes for a 2-0 undefeated record at home, and the Braves (4-5) have recently earned a 7-0 sweep over Western Illinois last Sunday are in search of a third straight win for their schedule.

As mentioned above, the match is originally scheduled to play on McCormick Courts, but pending on weather conditions, is subject to change to Evergreen Racquet Club.
