INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.- The Illinois State women's tennis team recorded a 7-0 victory over Butler while on the road Sunday.

"Everybody played well today," head coach Chris Hoover said. "It was exciting to watch, and I'm excited for this team. I really think this is something we can build off of as we continue further on into the season."

In doubles competition, the Redbirds swept all three matches. In the Doubles Flight 1 position, Phyllis Tigges and Madeliene Baillon earned a 6-0 win over Butler's Stephani McLoughlin and Kailey Eaton, while ISU's Sierra Stone and Emmie Marx went 6-0 against Butler's Grace Hyde and Angelina Qin in the Doubles Flight 2 position. Heather Nisbet and Kadi Ilves also beat Konstantina Adami and Jocelyn Koester, 6-0, in Doubles Flight 3.

In the singles competition, the Redbirds built off of their momentum, winning all six matches and marking the first-career win for freshman and newest edition to the team, Natalia Parchowska, who defeated Hyde, 6-1, 6-2, in Singles Flight 4. Marx edged McLoughlin, 6-3, 7-6, in Singles Flight 1, while ISU's Tigges recorded a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Adami in Singles Flight 2. In the Singles Flight 3 position, ISU's Stone edged Eaton, 6-1, 6-0. ISU freshman Baillon defeated Qin, 8-3, in the Singles Flight 5 position, while Ilves edged Koester, 8-4, in Singles Flight 6. Winners of three-straight, the Redbirds are 3-2 as they prepare to take on Creighton in Omaha, Neb., on February 14 at 3 p.m. CT.
