NORMAL, Ill. - - Illinois State is headed to Champaign on Friday, November 1 for their match up against Illinois. The dual meet is set to begin at 6 p.m. at the ARC Pool.

Illinois State is coming off two successful dual meet weekends in a row with a victory last weekend at Nebraska-Omaha (201-98) and the weekend before at Truman State (138-64). Head coach Steve Paska is anticipating an energetic and competitive meet against Illinois.

"It's nice this meet is a hop, skip and a jump away from our campus," said Paska. "Since we are so close in proximity to Illinois we will have a lot of Redbird supporters in the stands to cheer on the swimmers and divers. The Illini is a very talented squad and we know the challenge that lies ahead and how imperative it is for the student-athletes to pay attention to detail in all of their events, as we face one the top programs on our schedule for the 2013-2014 season."

After her performance last weekend at Nebraska-Omaha, Wenting Zhang was recognized as Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week for the second time this season. Zhang earned first place on the boards in both the one-meter (323.7) and three-meter (327.16). Following last week's presentation diving coach Phil Hoffmann is excited to see how the Redbirds will compete.

"As I have said in the past taking the divers on the road is an opportunity for them to get ready for conference." said Hoffmann. "I especially enjoy this meet on the road because the trip is so short," Hoffman laughed. "I have great respect for Chris Waters and this is a chance to compete with Big Ten divers. Illinois' profile is similar to ours so this is a chance for the divers to compete against old opponents from high school and club diving. With all this said there should be some interesting competition Friday and I look forward to seeing the Redbirds performance." Illinois is coming off of two wins last weekend from Michigan State and Liberty, and a loss from Oakland last Saturday. Illinois State will be the first home meet of the season for the Illini.
