Prorok Earns MVC Award For Third-Consecutive Week
Oct. 22, 2008
NORMAL, Ill. - Continued success on the diving board has led Illinois State junior Katelyn Prorok to be named Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week for a third-consecutive week. Prorok was given the award after her performance against Western Illinois, where she recorded a first-place finish and qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals.
Prorok has named diver of the week after an outstanding performance on the diving board this past weekend. She helped lead the Redbirds to victory against Western Illinois Friday, Oct. 17, as she recorded a first-place finish on the one-meter board with a score of 265.13 and second-place finish on the three-meter board with a score of 232.95. Prorok achieved a personal-best score with her performance on the one-meter board and qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals in the event. Prorok currently holds the top-score in the Valley on both the one-meter and three-meter boards.
Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann is very proud of Prorok's performance this season.
"This award is great continuation to the great year Katelyn's has been having," Hoffmann said. "We look for the zone qualification to just be a milestone in her season, not the highlight. We want to build on her performances in order to have a strong finish at the end of the semester at Akron Invitational and even stronger performances as we lead into the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Championships in February."
Prorok will join the rest of the Illinois State swimmers and divers as they compete against Evansville and Missouri State Friday night.
