NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State will host its first dual-meet of 2010 against Ball State Saturday at 1 p.m. in Horton Pool. It will be the first time the two teams have met since the Redbirds were defeated by the Cardinals in the fall of 2008.

Head coach Steve Paska looks forward to the home competition.

"I always look forward to the meet against Ball State," Paska said. "Both teams always put up incredibly competitive performances. We always bring out the best in them, and they always bring out the best in us."

In the first-half of the season, diver Katelyn Prorok earned three Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week awards and qualified for the NCAA Zone C regional meet. Coach Paska and coach Hoffmann are looking to Prorok to continue the exceptional effort she has shown in her time as a Redbird diver.

On the other side of the pool, two-time Swimmer of the Week nominee, Jeanette Nolte, and Amy Schaefer are just two of Illinois State's swimmers that look to support the Redbirds as the team moves through the remainder of the regular season schedule.

ISU's swimmers and divers plan to perform consistently as they prepare for one of the last home dual-meets of the season.

"The divers are continuing to fine-tune each of their dives," diving coach Phil Hoffmann said. "This meet will be a great competition for the team to get an idea of the small details that need to be worked on for each dive."

Paska added, "We're really looking for the team to consistently build on the little things and improve every performance in every event."

Live coverage of the meet can be followed on, as the Redbirds and Cardinals hit the water at 1 p.m. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, TRC gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
