Softball to Host Annual Winter Clinics

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State softball coach Melinda Fischer and her staff have announced dates for the Redbird softball program's annual hitting and pitching clinics, along with the annual developmental clinic. The hitting and pitching clinic, which is available for junior high and high school girls, will be held Dec. 13, with instruction given by Fischer, Tina Kramos and Shannon Nicholson. All clinic participants will receive a camp T-shirt, while lunch will be provided for those who register for both the hitting and pitching clinics.
The hitting and pitching clinics will be separated into four sessions, each taking place on Dec. 13, inside Horton Field House on Illinois State's campus. A hitting clinic for participants in sixth through eighth grade will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by a pitching clinic for participants of the same age group from 1-4 p.m. A high school pitching clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, and will be followed by a hitting clinic for the same age group from 1-4 p.m.
Cost for the hitting and pitching clinic is $130 per clinic or $230 for both clinics. The registration fee includes insurance for participants. The deadline to register for the hitting and pitching clinics is Dec. 9.
The Redbird Developmental Clinic will be held on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, and will help participants develop fundamental skills that will help them become a successful softball player. Coach Fischer and her assistant coaches, along with volunteer assistant coach Bill Dickson, the ISU softball team and select Redbird softball alumnae will conduct the clinic. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt and lunch.
The Redbird Developmental Clinic will be an all-day camp and is open to second through eighth graders. Check-in will begin at 9 a.m., on Jan 17, inside Horton Field House and will be followed by various instructional lessons throughout the day. The clinic will end at 4 p.m.
The Redbird Developmental Clinic costs $80, which includes lunch. The Redbird Developmental Clinic is limited to 150 participants. The deadline to register is Jan. 13, 2010.
