Forsyth Continues to Achieve Post-Season Success
Dec. 21, 2005
NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State soccer season ended over a month ago but the awards continue to pour in for forward Heather Forsyth. The senior co-captain was named to the Soccer Buzz All Great Lakes Region Second Team for the first time in her career as a Redbird.
This honor adds to Forsyth's 2005 arsenal, as the Burlington, Ontario native was also awarded the coveted Missouri Valley Conference women's soccer MVP for her play in the striker position this season. She was also named to the Valley All-Conference first team and the State Farm MVC All-Tournament Team.
Forsyth's expertise extended into the classroom, as well, as the special education major was picked to the Valley Scholar-Athlete team and the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team.
Battling back in her senior campaign after suffering a 2004 season-ending leg injury, Forsyth netted eight goals on the year, six of which came in league contests. She added one assist for seventeen total points.
Just two other Valley players were also honored by Soccer Buzz, Kayla Lambert of Evansville and Drake's Andrea Schmitz. Both joined Forsyth on the All Great Lakes Region Second Team and Lambert was also named to the All Freshman squad.
