LONG BEACH, Calif. - Three Illinois State women's soccer players were named to the Missouri Valley Conference Top 20 Players to Watch list for the 2010 season.

Senior Alyssa Schulz, junior Jessica Carlson, and sophomore Rachel Bostick represented the Redbirds on the list, after being named to the All-MVC Preseason Team on Tuesday. The trio of forwards accounted for 22 of Illinois State's 38 goals last season and helped lead the Redbirds to the 2009 MVC regular-season championship and State Farm MVC Tournament title.

Carlson came in as the number two player on the list, behind Creighton's Brittney Neumann. The junior led ISU with 12 goals and 27 points and was named First Team All-Valley and State Farm MVC Tournament Most Valuable Player during her sophomore campaign.

Bostick and Schulz, who both earned Second Team All-Valley honors in 2009, came in seventh and 11th on the watch list, respectively. Schulz tallied six goals, five assists and 17 points as a junior, while Bostick netted five goals and accounted for 12 points in her first season as a Redbird.

Creighton led all teams with five watch list selections, while Missouri State had four and Illinois State and Indiana State both had three players named to the list. Evansville and Northern Iowa each had a pair of players appear on the list and Drake's Bailey Dorrington was the Bulldogs' lone representative to round out the list.

The Redbirds will wrap up their preseason slate with a trip to Indianapolis to take on IUPUI August 14, before opening their regular season August 20 at Akron. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, TRC gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
