Katrina Jacobsze and Jacque Toth have both signed on to play soccer at Illinois State and both will be freshmen in the 2008 season. They join seven other Redbird freshmen and will combine with the 14 returning players to give the `Birds a 23-player roster in 2008.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The Illinois State women's soccer program has made some changes to its coaching staff. Shaunna Daugherty, who served as a graduate assistant coach for the past two seasons, has been named assistant coach. She has replaced Shawn Mecchi, who was the assistant coach during the 2007 season and left the program to pursue interests outside of collegiate soccer. Daugherty will continue to work with the Illinois State goalkeepers and help coordinate travel and recruiting. Mecchi left his position at the end of December and Daugherty was officially appointed to her new post in the beginning of January.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[The final of the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Soccer Championship came down to the wire and in the end No. 3 Creighton upset No. 1 Illinois State in penalty kicks, 4-3, on Sunday, Nov. 11. Creighton claimed its third title in the last four years to advance to the NCAA Tournament. It was the second time ever that a final between the Redbirds and Bluejays came down to penalty kicks; the first coming in 2003 when ISU won its only MVC crown, 5-4. The game officially ended in a tie, finishing the Redbirds' 2007 season with a record of 10-4-4.]]></description>
