King Closes the Season at NCAA Regionals

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Illinois State junior gymnast Sami King competed in the balance beam competition tonight at the 2014 NCAA Regional competition at the University of Arkansas in Barnhill Arena. King finished the meet in 11th place with a score of 9.625.
Head coach Bob Conkling was proud of King's performance at an exciting, competitive meet with the country's best gymnast.
"She did a good job today," Conkling said. "She was a bit more nervous than usual, so it wasn't her best beam set of the season. She had a couple wobbles but stayed up on the beam and did her routine. Overall, the competition was very exciting and there was some really good performances today."
This was King's third year competing at the NCAA Regional, as she took 16th place overall as a freshman with a score of 38.450 and as a sophomore took sixth with a score of 39.125.
Utah placed first place overall with a score of 197.300, UCLA scored a 196.600 to take second, and Arkansas came in third after posting a 196.375.
The team will be holding a private banquet on Sunday, April 13th, and awards will be given to gymnasts.
