NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's gymnastics team is heading to Cape Girardeau, Mo. to take on SEMO in Houck Field House at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Head coach Bob Conkling is anticipating a strong performance out of both teams and believes it will be a very competitive meet.

"The team's confidence level has continued to improve throughout the last couple weeks," Conkling said. "I expect that they will approach this meet with poise and sureness in all their routines. SEMO has been solid most of the season so I believe that it will be a close competition with the most consistent team coming out as the victor in the end."

The Redbirds are looking to build off a season-high team score performance in a 193.325-191.450 victory over Penn. Junior Sami King earned an MIC Gymnast of the week title after winning the all-around performance with a season-high score of 39.200. Senior Kim Caron also added a career-high 38.550 performance, while sophomore Amanda Mohler and freshman Demi Pas tied for first place on the balance beam competition after posting scores of 9.800.

SEMO is coming off a 193.625-194.900 loss to Michigan State, last weekend in Houck Field House. The Redhawks recorded their second-highest total on the balance beam competition, thanks to Megan Fosnow and Bailey Walker contributing scores of 9.800. On the floor exercise, Ashley Thomas set a personal-best score of 9.825, while Chelsi Hamilton tied her season-best with a 9.800.

The Redbirds will stay on the road next week when they take on Illinois-Chicago in their dual-meet finale on Saturday, March 15 at 5:00 p.m. ISU will then host the MIC Championships on March 22nd in Horton Field House at 4:00 p.m.
