NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State gymnastics team is hitting the road to compete in a tri-meet with conference rival Lindenwood and Missouri on Friday, Feb. 14 at 6:00 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.

Head coach Bob Conkling is looking forward to a rematch with Lindenwood and facing Missouri for the first time this season.

"We are excited to compete against Lindenwood again," Conkling said. "They have a strong team and it should be a good competition. We are also very excited to have the opportunity to compete against a South East conference team. The team has had strong workouts this week and we look forward to building on our successes from last week."

Illinois State and Lindenwood met on Jan. 24 in Horton Field House where junior Sami King won the all-around with a score of 38.925, but the Lions edged the Redbirds 190.175-189.950.

Illinois State is coming off a home victory against Alaska-Anchorage, where sophomore Sarah Fisher won the all-around title with a career-high 38.075. Freshman Demi Pas scored a season-high score of 9.725 to take first place on the balance beam, while senior Kristen Lieberman posted a career-best 9.700 on the vault. Sophomore Amanda Mohler contributed a 9.775 on the uneven bars, matching her season-best score.

Lindenwood competed in a tri-meet last weekend where they took second place behind Texas Woman's University and ahead of Centenary College. Senior Emily Turik led the way for the Lions by taking second place in the all-around with a score of 38.675. Sophomore Rachel Zabawa contributed a program record setting score of 9.850 on the floor exercise.

The Missouri Tigers were a last minute addition to the meet, as they had to alter their competition plans for the weekend due to inclement weather. The Tigers are coming off their first meet victory of the 2014 season on Feb.7. They defeated the Southeast Missouri Redhawks 194.125-190.900 in the annual "Beauty and the Beast" meet. The Tigers were led by junior Rachel Updike who took home all five individual event titles.
