NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State women's gymnastics team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., Saturday when the Redbirds compete in their third meet of the season to take on Penn at 11 a.m., at Hutchinson Gymnasium.

Head coach Bob Conkling is looking for his team to rebound after a disappointing outing in a tri-meet last weekend against Iowa State and Michigan.

"We are a much better team than what we have shown so far this season," Conkling said. "It is up to the entire team to trust in their training and believe that they are going to perform their routines in competition like they do every day in practice. If the team does that, we will have much better results against Penn than our two previous competitions."

Last weekend Penn competed in a quad-meet where they finished in fourth place with a score of 183.125. The Quakers placed behind host George Washington (193.025), Cornell (188.750) and Temple (186.775). Senior Nicki Valenti led the way for the Quakers on floor by posting a score of 9.625.

The Redbirds are coming off a third place finish last weekend in Ames, Iowa, where the Redbirds were led by junior Sami King who took fourth place in the all-around with a score of 37.550, while senior Kimberly Caron followed with a score of 36.325 to take home fifth place.
