NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State's women's golf coach Darby Sligh announced that senior Terra Miller is the Helen Cushman Endowed Scholarship recipient for 2010-11. The scholarship is awarded to a women's golf team member who has shown excellence through academics, golf expertise and dedication to the game.

"I am extremely honored to receive the Helen Cushman Endowed Scholarship and to join the group of accomplished golfers before me," Miller said.

In the 2009-10 season Miller competed in 18 rounds through six events and carded nine rounds in the 70s. Her lowest single-round score of 76 was accomplished at the Indiana Invitational. Miller recorded a three-round score of 236 (77-78-81) at the Rebel Intercollegiate and held a scoring average of 80.7 on the season. Going into the 2010-11 season, Miller will lead the squad as the only senior.

Coach Sligh feels that Miller fits the Cushman Scholarship's mold perfectly.

"This is an exciting award for Terra," Sligh said. "I think this scholarship embodies her love of the game and the enthusiasm that she brings to the team every day. Her positive nature and genuine commitment to bringing the team together helps to push us forward. This is a great time for her to shine."

The Helen Cushman Endowed Scholarship is one of the 23 endowed scholarships available to Illinois State student-athletes that are funded by private donors.
