Wolcott, Colo. - The Illinois State women's golf team finished 15th overall at the Golfweek Challenge Wednesday at the Red Sky Golf Club with a team score of 978 (330-322-326).

Head coach Darby Sligh felt the difficulty of the course got the better of her team and considers it a learning experience.

"Another tough day at Red Sky, as the wind picked up for our finish," Sligh said. "I know we feel like we didn't score as well as we would have liked, but I know there are several platforms for continued growth from here on out. We must focus on the positive parts of our games and not the difficulty of the greens and our struggles with them."

The Redbirds were led by the efforts of junior Hayley Guyton, who carded a 240 (83-78-79). Guyton improved from 61st place the first day to tying for 49th overall. Senior Brianna Cooper carded a three-round score of 242 (79-83-80), advancing to 53rd place, while senior Rachel Powers remained in 61st place with a combined 246 (84-81-81).

Senior Jordyn Wyzgowski had a 253 (84-83-86) and finished one stroke ahead of senior Carlee Cossell, who shot a 254 (88-80-86).

Pepperdine was able to retain the lead the entire tournament with a score of 869, followed by UC Davis in second with a team score of 905, while Texas Christian hung on to third with a of 910. The Redbirds finished ahead of Indiana (979), James Madison (985) and Boston College (990).
