GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Illinois State women's golf team is just six strokes back after posting a two-round-team-total of 617 (308, 309) at the Gainesville Shootout III. The Redbirds were led by redshirt sophomore Marisa Milligan who is in fourth-place after firing a two-round-total of 148 (75, 73) at the par-70, 5,907 yard Mark Bostick Golf Course, located on host Florida's campus.

Head coach Darby Sligh cannot help but take notice of the team's new acquisition.

"Marisa has been solid for us both rounds," said Sligh. "She is definitely a key piece of the puzzle right now and hopefully tomorrow we can have at least one more person step up and support her."

ISU has two other players in the top-20 as sophomore Laura Harris currently stands in a 16th place tie and junior co-captain Tiffany Hockensmith is tied for 20th. Harris recorded a round-two-total of 83 on her way to a two-day score of 154 (71, 83), while Hockensmith has tallied a two-round-total of 155 (76, 76).

"Some of our players came to play today, and some did not," Sligh noted. "Luckily, we did not play ourselves out of the tournament today and tomorrow we can still make a move. I am looking for the team to play well with something on the line, and with the conference season so close."

Michigan leads the team event with a two-round-score of 611 (309, 302). The Wolverines are just three strokes ahead of Texas State, with a two-round-team-total of 614 (301, 313). The top individual after day two is Alex Rankin of Wofford, posting a two-round-total of 140 (72, 68).

The final 18 holes begin with a shotgun start Saturday at 8:45 a.m.
