Redbirds Finish Rio Verde Invitational in 18th Place

RIO VERDE, Ariz. - The Illinois State women's golf team finished in 18th place at the Rio Verde Invitational with a team score of 965 (315-327-323) at the Rio Verde Country Club.
"There's not much to say following a performance like this," head coach Darby Sligh said. " We can only move forward and keep working on our process."
Senior Rachel Powers led the team the entire way with a score of 234 (76-78-80) and tied for 37th place overall on the individual leaderboard.
Junior Hayley Guyton carded a three-round score of 238 (80-79-79), tying for 49th place, while senior Jordyn Wyzgowski tied for 66th place, as she scored a 242 (76-84-82). Rounding out the Redbird lineup was senior Carlee Cossell, who shot a 252 (83-87-82), and junior Lauren English, who finished the tournament with a three-round score of 278 (99-86-93).
Xavier 900 (303-298-299) secured first place, while Montana was able to advance to second place with a three-round score of 905 (298-306-301), nine strokes ahead of third place Toledo with a combined team score of 914 (308-304-302).
Look for the Redbirds to return to action Sunday, March 16, in Pinehurst, N.C., for the Pinehurst Challenge.
