Hanley Named First-Team Academic All-District V

NORMAL, Ill. - Senior forward Emily Hanley was named to the Capital One Academic All-District V First Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), Thursday. Hanley is the 11th Redbird to be named academic all-district and the seventh to receive first-team recognition.
Hanley leads the Redbirds in scoring (14.5 ppg) and field goal percentage (.535) and ranks second in rebounding (7.2 rpg). She has three double-doubles on the season, including career-highs of 24 points and 13 rebounds against Illinois-Chicago. She has scored in double-figures in 17 games this season, including the last six-consecutive. Hanley became a part of the starting lineup for the first time this season and is averaging 31 minutes per game.
Hanley has a 3.74 grade-point average (GPA) in secondary education and earned a degree in dietetics and nutrition last year. She has been on the AFNI Athletics Honor Roll all seven semesters at ISU.
As a first-team selection, Hanley is now in contention for the Capital One Academic All-America Team. Three five-member teams of All-Americans will be selected from the 40 first-team all-district selections later this month. To be eligible for Capital One Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must have a 3.3 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and be a starter or a key contributor to her team.
