NORMAL, Ill. - After a two-week hiatus from competition, the Illinois State men's tennis team will hit the road this weekend to take on the No. 45 nationally-ranked Indiana Hoosiers Friday and the Northern Illinois Huskies Sunday.

ISU enters this weekend's matches with a 3-0 record, in which the Redbirds have recorded 7-0 sweeps of Detroit, Butler, and UIC.

Friday's match versus Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., will undoubtedly be the toughest competition that the Redbirds have faced thus far in their spring season, but head coach Cris James believes that his team will be ready for the challenge.

"Indiana is a good team and they're playing very well right now," James said. "We played them tough last year, and now we enter this match with a better team. We weren't ready to take down a team like theirs last year, but I think we have confidence that we can win this match this year."

The Redbirds will travel to Rockford, Ill., Sunday to take on Northern Illinois. ISU defeated the Huskies in its most recent meeting in 2009, 5-2, and James expects his team to take care of business again this time.

"We've done well against NIU over the past few seasons," James said. "They're in a transition phase and are improving, but we're confident in our team and expect to do well."

ISU takes the court against Indiana Friday at 9 a.m. CST at the IU Tennis Center, and will take on Northern Illinois at 5 p.m. CST Sunday at the Clocktower Resort.
