COLUMBUS, Ohio. - The Illinois State Men's Tennis team finished day two of the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at the Varsity Tennis Center and Racquet Club of Columbus. Rolando Torrellas and Jakub Eisner advanced to the second round of the doubles main draw defeating Northwestern's Alex Pasareanu and Fedor Baev, 8-4.

No. 12 seeded Muddappa Appanervanda advanced in the qualifying singles round beating No. 8 seeded, Silviu Mistreanu of Youngstown State in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1. Appanervanda then took on Matt Kueler of Colorado State in the singles main draw round but was defeated in three sets, 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

"I'm pleased for the most part on how we played today." Head Coach Mark Klysner said. "We had some tough matches that we had chances to win but couldn't close them out."

Jacob Wilson lost to Depaul's Filip Dzanko, 6-2, 6-0. Rodrigo Oliveira lost a three set nail-bitter to Ryan Brady of Notre Dame, 3-6, 6-1, 6-1.

Oliveira and Appanervanda were defeated by Wyatt McCoy and Nicolas Montoya of Notre Dame, 8-4. Main draw doubles action starts up again at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
