TULSA, Okla. - Alexander Pelaez and Tuomas Manner's winning streak in doubles play came to an end at the ITA All- American Tournament in TULSA, Okla. on Thursday. Pelaez and Manner were defeated by Ohio State.

Ohio State's Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola defeated Pelaez and Manner, 8-2.

Head Coach Cris James feels their competition was tough.

"We played a good team, they are ranked number 3 in the country, so they are very good," James said. "We played a little bit uptight and we might have felt a bit pressured. I think the guys were feeling like they had to play perfect. Our opponent didn't give any points to us easily, they made us earn everything."

Despite the loss, Pelaez, Manner and James are proud of their accomplishments in the tournament.

"Pelaez and Manner are a bit disappointed," said James. "They didn't play very well today but I told them, throughout the match, we had plenty of chances against the number 3 team in the country, which is something to be proud of."

James wants Pelaez and Manner to have confidence going forward.

"They're a great doubles team and they can compete with anybody in the country at this point," said James. "They need to believe that."

Pelaez and Manner will be competing against Baylor's Roberto Maytin and Marko Krickovic in the consolation round Friday. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, Weisbecker Scholarship Fund gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
