NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Illinois State men's tennis completed the third day of competition at the Tom Fallon Invitational on the Courtney Tennis Center courts Sunday afternoon. The Redbirds won 5-of-6 singles matches and 1-of-3 doubles matches during the last day of play at the tournament.

The Redbird's domination in singles action began with Alexander Pelaez beating Ryan Bandy of Notre Dame, 1-6, 6-3, 11-9 and Tuomas Manner defeating Notre Dame's Michael Moore, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6. The success continued as Muddappa Appanervanda beat Jorg Van der Kloet of Cleveland State, 6-4, 6-1. Willi Peter defeated Marquette's Jonathan Schwerin, 6-3, 2-6, 10-5, while Jacob Wilson beat Nolan Marks of Cleveland State, 6-4, 6-2.

Head Coach Cris James was pleased with underclassmen's daily improvement.

"I was very impressed with Jacob and Willi," James said. "They both had a loss in the first day of this tournament but were able to turn their game around and end with a 3-1 record. They improved each day which is definitely the direction we want them to be going."

Not as fortunate in singles action was senior Skip Span who lost to Notre Dame's Michael Fredericka, 6-4, 5-7, 10-6.

Manner and Paleaz teamed up in doubles action to defeat Notre Dame's Michael Moore and Wyatt McCoy, 9-8. Peter and Span lost to Zayed Montasser and Aaron Wong of Western Michigan, 8-5, while Michael Fredericka and Douglas Barnard of Notre Dame defeated Appanervanda and Wilson, 8-4.

James is eager to get back to practice to continue to develop his player's skills, especially in doubles action.

"We have to spend some time on doubles once we get back to practice on Tuesday," James said. "We also have to work on their attacking skills. The guys do a great job of setting up points and creating good situations, we just need to work on following through and finishing strong."
