Redbirds Drop Match to No. 39 Drake, 4-0, to End Season

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's tennis team (8-13) fell to No. 39 Drake (21-5), in the Missouri Valley Conference Team Tennis Championship semifinals Saturday, at Gregory Street Tennis Courts. The loss officially ended ISU's 2013-14 season.

The Redbirds could not gain match momentum early in doubles play, with losses in both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. In No. 1 doubles, Jakub Eisner and Rolando Torrellas fell to Robin Goodman and Ben Lott, 8-5, while in No. 2 doubles Muddappa Appanervanda and Urh Krajnc Domiter, 8-5. Rodrigo Oliveira and Erik Brunskog's match went unfinished.

In No. 1 singles action, Brunskog lost to Alen Salibasic, 7-5, 6-4, while in No. 2 singles, Jacob Wilson fell to Ben Lott, 6-2, 6-1. In No. 3 singles, Kranjc Domiter was defeated by Robin Goodman, 6-0, 6-0. Appanervanda's, Torrellas' and Oliveira's matches all went unfinished.
