Redbirds Roll Past Bradley, 4-0; Will Face No. 39 Drake in Semifinals

NORMAL, Ill. - No. 2 doubles partners Muddappa Appanervanda and Urh Kranjc Domiter battled back from a 6-1 deficit to tie the match at 6-0 against Arthur Romanet and Justin Abrams, forcing a tie-breaker in which they won 8-7 (3), helping Illinois State (8-12) secure the doubles point and defeat Bradley (3-19), 4-0, in the first round of the Missouri Valley Conference.

In No. 3 doubles, Rodrigo Oliveira and Erik Brunskog beat Nico Ratikin and Dan Rodefeld, 8-4, while in No. 1 doubles, Jakub Eisner and Rolando Torrellas' match went unfinished, 6-7, against Ashton Kalhorn and Hamish Weerasinghe.

"I'm happy with the win today," head coach Mark Klysner said. "We started a little nervous in the doubles, but held on for the point. Singles was much better as the guys settled down and played well. We are looking forward to playing Drake tomorrow."

In singles action, No. 1 Brunskog defeated Arthur Romanet, 6-3, 6-3, while in No. 6 singles, Torrellas beat Dan Rodefeld, 6-2, 6-2. In No. 4 singles, Domiter defeated Weerasinghe, 6-2, 6-3, to help secure the win for the Redbirds.

Jacob Wilson, Eisner and Appanervanda's matches all went unfinished.

Illinois State will face No. 39 Drake at 10 a.m. in the semifinals Saturday.
