Bliefnick, Meier lead `Birds at Kansas Invitational
Sept. 28, 2009
Bliefnick is tied for second place after firing a 1-under-par 143 (71-72), and Meier is tied for fourth place with an even-par 144 (71-73). Men's golf head coach Ray Kralis was pleased with the effort from his players in the harsh weather.
"Eric and Tommy played great for us today," Kralis said. "Under today's conditions they played fantastic and it was obviously a key for our team. It was very challenging today, we had swirling and gusty winds which made it challenging, and the greens are always tough here."
Junior Will Cullen is tied for 50th place after carding a 13-over-par 157 (80-77). Senior Kyle Bragg is right behind him tied for 54th place with a 14-over-par 158 (78-80), and junior Jeff Kellen is tied for 58th place after posting a 15-over-par 159 (82-77).
"We didn't get the team effort we were necessarily looking for but we had a couple of standout individual performances," Kralis said. "We need to come out strong as a team tomorrow and give our lead guys a little bit of support. We were better in the afternoon and I think we're still in position to finish off the tournament strong tomorrow."
Jace Long of Missouri is alone in first place after firing a 2-under-par 142 (71-71). Bliefnick is tied for second place with Nate Barbee of Kansas who shot a 1-under-par 143 (74-69).
