NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State football team moved up three more spots to No. 14 in the nation according to The Sports Network/ FCS Top 25 Poll released Monday. The Redbirds also improved eight spots in the FCS Coaches Poll up to No. 16, after beating Western Illinois, 31-7, at Hancock Stadium Saturday.

ISU (7-3, 5-2 Missouri Valley Football Conference) has now been ranked in The Sports Network/ poll for three-consecutive weeks and has its highest ranking since 2007, when it was also ranked No. 14 on Sept. 17. The Redbirds garnered 1,665 points in The Sports Network/ poll this week, and earned 203 points in the FCS Coaches Poll to earn a national ranking for the second-straight week.

MVFC leader North Dakota State (9-0) remained a prohibitive No. 1 pick for the second-straight week in both polls, after defeating fellow conference member Indiana State by a score of 27-16 last weekend on the road in Terre Haute, Ind. The Bison received 143 of the 161 first-place votes and tallied 4,004 points overall in The Sports Network/ poll and earned 26 out of a possible 28 first-place votes in the FCS Coaches Poll.

Indiana State dropped just outside of The Sports Network/ poll this week, after dropping a, 27-16, decision to the No. 1 ranked Bison Saturday. However, the Sycamores remained ranked in the FCS Coaches Poll at No. 23 to give the Missouri Valley Football Conference four representatives in the top-25.
