CHICAGO, Ill. - Illinois State Athletics will continue to hold its television footprint in the Chicago media market with a new four-game agreement with Comcast SportsNet Chicago, whose regional television base reaches 4.9 million homes, for the 2013 Redbird football season.

Comcast SportsNet, which is the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, is available on most cable outlets in the state of Illinois, as well as DirectTV and Dish Network. Redbird fans who receive Comcast SportsNet will be able to see home games against Western Illinois (Oct. 5) and Northern Iowa (Nov. 2) and road games at Youngstown State (Oct. 12) and Southern Illinois (Nov. 16).

The Oct. 12 game at Youngstown State will be aired live on Comcast SportsNet Chicago Plus and produced by MyYTV in Youngstown. Thanks to an agreement with YSU and Illinois State's partnership with Comcast SportsNet Chicago, the game will be seen throughout the state on the station's alternate channel.

Niles Media Group has been contracted to produce the other three telecasts and will continue to serve as the television production partner for Illinois State Athletics. Last season, Niles produced 10 broadcasts for Illinois State that aired on CSN Chicago, including four Redbird football contests.

ISU Director of Athletics Larry Lyons is appreciative of the relationship created and effort put forth by Comcast SportsNet's VP/Programming Greg Bowman to make these broadcasts a reality.

"We have found the partnership between Illinois State Football and Comcast SportsNet to be very rewarding," Lyons said. "We are thrilled to bring another slate of games to our fans and alumni this fall."

Bowman knows the value of Illinois State Athletics on Comcast SportsNet.

"We're very pleased to be bringing these games to our viewers in what will be yet another exciting season for Illinois State football and their always-impressive fan base," Bowman said. Illinois State Athletics Percy Family Hall of Famer and WMBD Sports Director Kurt Pegler will serve as the play-by-play voice on the telecasts and will be joined in the booth by former Illinois State All-American and NFL player Boomer Grigsby as the analyst.
