Ball State Buys Out of 2014 Return Game at Illinois State

Aug 28, 2013

NORMAL, Ill. - Ball State reached an agreement with Illinois State to buy out of the Cardinals' 2014 return-game at Hancock Stadium, it was announced Wednesday. The Redbirds will attempt to fill the vacated date in an effort to host six games, as originally scheduled, next season.

"Ball State inquired about buying out the return-game, and we were willing to accommodate," Illinois State Director of Athletics Larry Lyons said. "We are now looking to schedule another home game for the 2014 season."

Ball State attributed the buyout to an attempt to even its 2014 home football schedule at six home and six away contests.

The Redbirds and Cardinals face each other Thursday at 6 p.m. CT in Muncie, Ind., in the first game of the season for both teams. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, Weisbecker Scholarship Fund gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
