Szabo Resigns From Redbird Football Coaching Staff

June 27, 2011

NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State head football coach Brock Spack announced that assistant coach Steve Szabo has resigned from the Redbird football coaching staff due to personal reasons, effective Monday.

Szabo, who was hired in February as defensive coordinator, took an indefinite leave of absence from the staff April 14 due to personal reasons. Spack also announced that he will serve as both the head coach and defensive coordinator for the 2011 season for the Redbirds.

"We're disappointed to lose Steve as a member of our staff, but we understand his decision to move back to his home in Colorado," Spack said. "I was looking forward to working with him, but circumstances came about that it wasn't going to work out. We wish him the best and thank him for his time as a member of our coaching staff at ISU."
