ISU Athletics Helps Support WJBC's Brotherhood Tree

Dec. 2, 2010

NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Athletics Department, in conjunction with WJBC, AM-1230, Bloomington, will hold a pair of WJBC Brotherhood Tree Nights, as the Redbird men's basketball team hosts Montana State on December 4, and the ISU women's team faces Ball State December 9 on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena. Redbird Athletics staff members will be accepting gift donations for needy families in McLean County before, during and after the game.

Patrons who bring an unwrapped gift for the WJBC Brotherhood Tree to the men's game will receive free upper bowl tickets to the December 8 game against Ohio. Fans who bring gifts to the December 9 women's game will receive free admission to the Dececember 28 Redbird women's basketball game against UW-Milwaukee.

Gifts for the WJBC Brotherhood Tree should be dropped off at the north or east entrances, as collection bins will be placed at each entry point. In addition, the WJBC Brotherhood Tree provides gifts for all members of the family, so the donated gifts can be for all ages.

Brad Ledford, Illinois State assistant athletics director for marketing and promotions, is looking forward to providing Redbird Athletics fans an opportunity to give back to the community in such a meaningful way.

"This is something that we have participated in with WJBC for a number of years, and it is a very meaningful event," Ledford said. "For this event, we work with a great partner of ours, Radio Bloomington and WJBC, AM-1230, and help provide needy families in the Bloomington-Normal area with holiday cheer through gift donations."

The WJBC Brotherhood Tree has provided gifts for needy families in McLean County since 1969, with gifts delivered to over 7,300 people last year.
