Valley TV Announces 2012-13 Basketball Package
Oct. 5, 2012
ST. LOUIS - At least three Illinois State men's basketball games and one Redbird women's basketball game will be broadcast on the Missouri Valley Conference Television Network, as announced by the league office Friday.
Games on the Valley Network will air on Comcast SportsNet Chicago, ESPN3, FOX Sports Midwest, FOX Sports Indiana, FOX Sports Kansas City and FOX College Sports. Niles Media Group of Kansas City will serve as the production company.
"It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since the league made the decision to bring its television network in-house, but it was the right move," Valley Commissioner Doug Elgin said. "The MVC TV Network, thanks to partners like FOX Sports, FOX College Sports and Comcast SportsNet Chicago, remains our most visible marketing and promotional tool for our programs, coaches and student-athletes."
ISU's first Valley TV broadcast can be viewed on Jan. 2, when the men's basketball team hosts Creighton. On Jan. 4, the Redbird women's basketball home game against Northern Iowa will also air on the network. Valley TV will then broadcast the Jan. 26 men's basketball game versus Evansville and the Jan. 29 contest at Bradley.
In addition, the Redbird men's and women's basketball teams could be featured during the MVC Wildcard Weekend, Mar. 2-3. The televised matchups will be announced in early February. The men's basketball Valley Tournament opening rounds, quarterfinals and semifinals will also air on Valley TV, along with the women's basketball Valley Tournament semifinals and championship games. The men's title game can be watched on CBS.
Valley TV is also scheduled to broadcast the MVC women's soccer, softball and baseball championships. Along with Valley network coverage, the Redbird men's basketball team can be seen four other times on the ESPN family of networks, while the women's team will be shown one additional time on ESPN3.
The ISU women start the season with an exhibition game Nov. 1 against Wisconsin-Parkside, and the men begin with a Nov. 5 exhibition matchup versus Quincy. Live video coverage will be available for both games on RedbirdHD.tv.
