NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State Redbirds (22-16, 6-3 MVC) returns to action and will host MacMurray (7-22) for a dobuleheader on Wednesday. Tuesday's game versus Purdue has been rained out and Wednesday is a 2:00 p.m. first pitch at Duffy Bass Field. Both games versus MacMurray will be seven innings.
The Redbirds concluded its 12-game home stand with a 10-2 overall record, most recently sweeping a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series against Indiana State.
The Opposition: Purdue University Boilermakers (11-25, 1-10 Big Ten)
Purdue University is located in West Lafayette, Ind. The public university was established in 1869. Purdue University currently enrolls 39,726 students.
The Boilermakers have been members of the Big Ten Conference since 1896.
Purdue marks the second Big Ten opponent the Redbirds have faced this season (Illinois).
Purdue is guided by veteran head coach Doug Schreiber. He is in his 14th season at the helm of the Purdue baseball program and set multiple records in 2012. Purdue won a team-record 45 games, won the Big Ten regular season and tournament titles and hosted a NCAA Regional in Gary, Ind. He is the all-time winningest coach in Purdue baseball history.
The Boilermakers are just 1-10 this season at home and were swept over the weekend by Nebraska.
The Opposition: MacMurray College Highlanders (7-22)
MacMurray College is a small, private school located in Jacksonville, Ill. It was established in 1846 and enrolls 548 undergraduate students.
MacMurray is a NCAA Division III school.

Paced by dominant starting pitching, the Illinois State Redbirds completed a three-game Missouri Valley Conference sweep of Indiana State last weekend at Duffy Bass Field. Redbird starters Chris Razo, Dan Savas and Brad Sorkin combined to throw 24 innings, allowing only one earned run. The trio struck out 14, walked six and all three starters earned victories. The Redbirds are now 6-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference, having played Wichita State, Missouri State and Indiana State. The sweep completed a season-long 12-game home stand for the Redbirds, who finished, 10-2.
Sorkin Named MVC Pitcher of the Week
Senior right-hander Brad Sorkin fired a complete-game shutout Sunday, as Illinois State completed a three-game Missouri Valley Conference sweep over Indiana State. Sorkin needed just 96 pitches to go the distance, scattering four hits, while striking out one. He induced a game-ending 6-4-3 double play with the tying run at home plate in the ninth. It marked the third complete-game of his career and was Sorkin's fifth victory this season.
