NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State opens its longest home stand of the 2013 season, a 13-game stretch at Duffy Bass Field, when the Redbirds welcome Missouri State, April 5-7. Friday night begins at 6:00 p.m., Saturday starts at 2:00 p.m. and the Sunday matinee is slated for 1:00 p.m.
The Redbirds (12-14, 1-2 MVC) return to action following a series loss last weekend at Wichita State and a midweek defeat at Eastern Illinois. Missouri State (18-6, 3-0 MVC) swept Indiana State last weekend to open conference play.
The Redbirds are averaging better than five runs-per-game and have posted a team slash-line of .282/.364/.396. Missouri State boasts one of the best pitching staff's in the nation, holding a MVC-best ERA of 2.71. The Bears average five runs-per-game and hit .279/.377/.368 as a team.
Illinois State is guided by fourth-year head coach Mark Kingston, who owns a 113-76 all-time record. The Bears are under veteran skipper Keith Guttin, who is 1,050-658 in 31 seasons at MSU.

Dan Savas. Wichita State run-ruled the Redbirds 12-2 in eight innings in game two Saturday. Illinois State
suffered its worst lose of the season, Wednesday, dropping, 20-2, at Eastern Illinois.
