Redbirds' Opener at Notre Dame Tournament Washed Out
March 11, 2009
SAN ANTONIO - The first considerable rain to touch San Antonio in nearly 17 months has cancelled Illinois State's opening game against Trinity at Wolff Stadium, Notre Dame Tournament officials announced Wednesday afternoon. The teams will attempt to make up the game Thursday at noon.
Illinois State's Thursday contest with Notre Dame will be played after the make-up game with Trinity, with an estimated start time at 4 p.m. Wednesday's cancellation marks the fourth game this season that has been affected by inclement weather. The Redbirds' series finale with Belmont (Feb. 22) and final two games of the series at Murray State (Feb. 28-March 1) were cancelled due to poor conditions.
The Redbirds will play Trinity, Notre Dame and Texas-Pan American (March 13-14) in the round-robin tournament hosted by the Fighting Irish.
