Mother Nature Strikes Again for Redbird Baseball
March 1, 2009
MURRAY, Ky. - For the second-consecutive game and second week in a row, poor weather conditions forced the Illinois State baseball team to cancel its series finale. The Redbirds' series-ending doubleheader with Murray State at Reagan Field was scratched Sunday morning due to lingering snow, high winds and cold temperatures.
Sunday's cancellation marks the second and third games lost to weather for Illinois State (2-3) just two weeks into the 2009 season and gave the Redbirds a 1-1 series split with the Thoroughbreds. Saturday's game was cancelled due to rain.
Illinois State will move indoors for its next set of games as the Redbirds travel to the Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn., for a three-game tournament (March 6-8) against South Dakota State, Western Michigan and Minnesota.
