Illinois State Track and Field Set for National Meet

EUGENE, Ore.—Three Redbirds punched their tickets to Eugene, Oregon, for the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 11-14, at historic Hayward Field.
Curt Jensen and Jianna Williams will represent the Redbird squad in the throwing events, as Jensen will look to earn his second All-American title of the 2013-14 track and field campaign, after earning an All-American accolade at the indoor track and field championships in the shot put. Jensen punched his ticket to nationals with a fourth-place finish at the regional meet, tossing 19.51 meters (64-00.25). Williams is making her first appearance at Hayward field, as she earned her spot finishing 12th in the women’s hammer throw at the NCAA West Regional meet with a mark of 57.41 meters (189-04).
Kristen Zillmer is the final Redbird headed to Hayward field. Zillmer is making her second-consecutive appearance in Oregon, as the senior finished 22nd with a 3,000-meter steeplechase time of 10:33.01 at the 2013 championships. Zillmer earned her spot at nationals with a seventh-place steeplechase time of 10:10.76 at the 2014 regional meet.
All three Redbirds will open competition Wednesday, as Williams is the first Redbird that will compete, throwing the hammer trial and finals at 1:30 p.m., (PST). Jensen will compete at 5:30 p.m., (PST) in the shot put trials and finals, and Zillmer will race the 3,000-meter steeplechase trials at 6:45 p.m., (PST).
