ST. LOUIS-- Curt Jensen captures his fourth-consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week nod for his first-place finish and record-setting mark in the shot put at the Redbird Invite, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

Jensen broke his own Valley and Illinois State shot put records Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at Redbird Track. The senior thrower's personal-best and record-setting mark came on his fifth attempt in the shot put, as he tossed a mark of 20.33 meters (66-08.50).

The Colona, Ill., native continues to improve week-by-week, breaking his own ISU record three times alone this season and the MVC record twice. Jensen bested his mark of 20.21 meters (66-03.75) set at the Jesse Owens Classic (Apr. 19). He currently sits in the No. 3 spot on the NCAA leaderboard. Making it a memorable Senior Day, Jensen also posted a personal-best mark of 54.44 meters (178-07) in the discus to finish second behind Sean Pruitt, who competed unattached and broke the meet record, throwing 54.68 meters (179-05).

The Redbird track and field team is back in action May 16-18, as it travels south to Carbondale, Ill., for the MVC Championships. Your online source for Illinois State Athletics, tickets, TRC gifts, multimedia, Redbird merchandise, photos and more.
