CHAMPAIGN, Ill.—The Illinois State men’s and women’s track and field teams ended its regular indoor season at the Orange and Blue Open Saturday afternoon at the UI Armory.

Deshaun Jordan clocked a personal-best 200-meter time of 22.64 to finish first and placed fourth in the 60-meter dash to lead the Redbird sprinters with a time of 7.13. Antonio Farley ran a 49.63 in the 400-meter sprint, finishing in the top spot. Jalen Lewis, Coty Kramer and Javar Cruz finished right behind Farley in the 400-meter race to claim second, third and fourth, respectively.

“We were looking for some kids to step up and perform to show they can compete at the conference meet,” head coach Elvis Forde said. “Deshaun ran the 60-meter dash for the first time today, but I was impressed with his 200-meter run more than anything else. He has missed a lot of the season because of an injury, but he competed very well today.”

After racing a mile time of 4:20.64, Ryan Bybee clocked a season-best 800-meter time of 1:56.80, finishing second in both events.

Jake DeJaegher jumped a season-best mark of 2.05m (6-08.75) in the high jump. DaJaegher topped his former season-best mark of 2.00m (6-06.75) set at the Keck Invitational.

Akil Mills and Curt Jensen highlighted the throwing events, as Jensen set a meet record of 19.77m (64-10.50) to finish first in the shot put. Prior to the shot put, Jensen threw a personal-best mark of 19.03m (62-05.25) in the weight throw to place second. Mills tossed 20.70m (67-11.00) to finish first in the weight throw competition and followed that up with a heave of 15.13m (49-07.75) in the shot put.

“Curt and Akil continue to perform at a very high level,” Forde said. “We have high expectations for them beyond the conference meet next week. Curt continues to get better, improving in the weight throw today, and I am very impressed because he continues to get better in all of the events he competes in. Akil is just as steady as they come in regards to his performance in the weight throw.”

Printassia Johnson ran a season-best 60-meter dash of 7.74 to finish second, while Sarah Mussallem also clocked a season-best 60-meter time of 7.93. Johnson finished with a 200-meter time of 25.50.

In the 800-meter race, Jackie Mink recorded a season-best time of 2:17.35, while Kim Christensen and Haley Goers went 2-3 in the women’s mile, finishing with season-best times of 4:58.11 and 4:59.22, respectively. This marks the first time Goers broke five minutes in her career.

Kaitlyn Neiheisel placed second in the pole vault, as she vaulted to an indoor personal-best mark of 3.56m (11-08.00). Amanda Young finished third with a height of 3.11m (10-02.50).

In the throwing events, Jianna Williams took home two first-place finishes with a mark of 18.76m (61-06.75) in the weight throw and a heave of 14.10m (46-03.25) in the shot put. Freshman Morgan Keller threw a personal-best mark of 13.64m (44-09.00) in the shot put to finish third, topping her previous career-best mark by one foot.
