Jensen, Rutherford Named Athletes of the Week

Jensen earns sixth honor of the 2013-14 campaign.


Ryan Rutherford Boasts Second-Consecutive ISU Record

Rutherford takes second to graduate assistant Lex Williams.

Lex joins the Illinois State staff after competing and training with Team Michigan Elite for a year and a half.

Williams attended the University of Michigan where he was a two-time Big Ten Indoor Champion in the distance medley and 5,000-meter run (2007), as well as a two-time Academic All-Big Ten member (2009-10).

In 2009, Williams received Second-Team All-Big Ten Honors, with second-place finishes in the 5,000-meter run and 10,000-meter run at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. He was also named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team.

In 2007, Williams was named to the First Team All-Big Ten (Indoor), as well as being a Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree. He notched All-American honors in the distance medley and was a member of the sixth-place distance medley relay team at the NCAA Indoor Championships.

The Ann Arbor, Mich., native will be pursuing a Master's degree in sport management at Illinois State.
