The field of strength and conditioning has developed into one of the most vital components of any collegiate athletics program. The Illinois State University Strength & Conditioning program utilizes a state-of-the-art facility combined with a scientifically based and safety driven environment. This allows all Redbird student-athletes both an increase in athletic performance and a decreased likelihood of injury.
In the Richard and Fran Owen Strength & Conditioning Center Redbird student-athletes utilize a combination of free weights, ground based equipment, and selectorized machines to provide a thorough and sport-specific training program. Comprehensive evaluation and assessment protocols allow the strength and conditioning staff to effectively classify each athlete's preparedness level. The staff is then able to truly individualize each athlete's training program. Additionally, the strength and conditioning staff works closely with the Redbird athletic training and sports medicine units to insure a seamless rehabilitation process to help injured athletes return to action as soon as possible.
